INSPIRATION

Why a Crocus Flower?

The Crocus flower symbolizes rebirth and a never ending cycle of life. It signifies the arrival of spring, the promise of new beginnings and exciting new events. The Communities of Crocus is a symbol of Hope, of Life, of Choice. The end of loneliness and the beginning of togetherness, a transition from living in a community to being a part of one. A place to engage and connect, participate and support, grow and flourish, to live uninhibited and free.

Create supportive homes of choice for adults with autism and similar intellectual & developmental disabilities (IDDs) that give them a sense of pride, accomplishment and dignity through providing services and housing within a natural environment.

Provide independent apartments and community homes within a supportive wraparound neighborhood where adults with autism and others with similar intellectual & developmental disabilities have purpose through living and engaging with others.

RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY

CARE at CROCUS

Individual apartments within a shared home for individuals with complex needs. The Care at Crocus model is a "Home within a Home" where residents have 24/7 support to help them live as independently as possible in a community environment.

APTS at CROCUS

An affordable apartment community consisting of 26 one and 32 two bedroom units for adults with autism and similar Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) who are able to live independently with support.

HOMES at CROCUS

A pocket neighborhood of For Sale ranch duplexes and townhomes for parents and others who chose to live in the community and provide natural support to the residents.

ONSITE SUPPORTS

The CENTRE

A Centre for residents and others in the greater community with complex needs designed to provide opportunities that can enhance their quality of life in a natural setting. The Centre will provide opportunities to participate in daily living skills, functional life skills, leisure activities, social interaction and health and wellness.

THE SUPPORTIVE HUB

The Supportive Housing Hub is a place where residents and others in the greater community including adults with autism and similar disabilities can get the support and services they need to live as independently as possible. In addition, the SHH will provide services and support for the parents, siblings, caregivers and other interested parties involved in the continuum of care for these unique individuals.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

COMMUNITY PAVILION

Located on a half acre of green space within the community, the CROCUS Community Pavilion will provide inclusion opportunities where the greater community and the residents at COC can participate together in community events and gatherings.

RESPITE & TRY IT OUT APARTMENTS

Located within the APTS at CROCUS is a one bedroom Try-It-Out Apartment that allows potential residents the opportunity to "Try Out" living on their own for a short period of time. Also located in the APTS at CROCUS is a four bedroom respite unit open to nonresident adults with autism or similar intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) who are living at home with their parents or other caregivers in the greater community.

MEET THE TEAM

The founders of COC, Amy Hansel and Emily Peters, are both parents of children with autism and Down syndrome. They are determined to create a space in Wisconsin where their children and others with similar disabilities will be supported and able to reach their fullest potential within a natural environment.

Currently, we are looking for partners and collaborators who would like to work with us on developing the community and/or participating in the Supportive Housing Hub.
